Hiten & Nisha’s Gujrathi Wedding | Reservoir Hills Seva Samaj, Durban

It’s been a while since blogging. Today’s feature is a treat of serene beauty. And that’s compliments to the bride alone. You’ll see what I mean in a bit …

Here’s an insight into their story…

How did you meet?
We met at an exam (hand over face bbm emoticon). We had a 2 hour break from one paper to another and common friends decided to go grab a bite to eat. We got chatting, and from there, one thing led to another and 2 years later I found myself with a ring on my finger and a big fat smile on my face.

Tell us about the proposal…
Hiten arranged a weekend getaway at a very cosy place in Magaliesburg. And on one of the nights, he organised with the Hotel to set up a dinner table in their wine cellar. The ambience was amazing and when he got down on one knee and proposed, it was perfect.

What was your wedding colour scheme or theme?
We decided to be simple and still maintain the colour of a traditional wedding, so we went with a combination of White, Cream and Maroon.

What are your most memorable moments from the day?
Seeing the smile on Hiten’s face as I walked down the aisle and also the positive and happy atmosphere that I was surrounded by all day through.

How did you keep your wedding “down-to-earth” and within budget?
I tried to keep my make-up and clothing as natural as possible, just so I could feel relaxed and at ease to enjoy the functions / celebrations. As for the budget, the only item that was blown was the number of blessings that I received from my parents and family, and for that I am truly grateful.

What is your advice for brides-to-be?
Things get quite crazy during the last few weeks of planning and during the actual functions / celebrations. Just remember to take a step back every now and then, smile (if you aren’t already smiling), soak in the happiness and enjoy the once in a lifetime experience. People generally put a lot of effort into having the perfect wedding. To me the key ingredient to a perfect wedding is finding the perfect partner.
