Craig & Krinell’s Tamil Wedding | Kloof Country Club, KZN

If you’re blessed with good weather, wintery garden weddings in Durban are just exquisite. Craig and Krinell were lucky to have just that. On my side, I wish I could rotate the entire setup to co-ordinate with the setting of the sun to get that golden beautiful light at all times during the ceremony. But that is just wishful thinking lol. The entire wedding was so special, from the weather, the people, the ambience and the personalised stationery (designed by Craig’s sister) . It was good to see two cultures merge and embrace each other with warmth and delight.

How did you meet?
We actually met on a leadership course at work three and a half years ago.  A week later we went on our first “coffee” date which lasted through six hours of conversation, after which we knew this was something special!

What is your most special memory of your wedding?
The most special memory for me was walking down the aisle and seeing all our family and friends. It was also the wonderful feeling during all the festivities with all our family and friends there to share the best day of our lives.

What was the hardest part of the planning process?
The hardest part of the planning process was trying to co-ordinate things from Johannesburg but my parents were very supportive in this regard and helped to take a lot of the pressure of us. It really makes a difference to have people, be it family or friends, to help and run with certain aspects of the wedding because it can become overwhelming to try to coordinate everything yourself.

Did  you experience any unexpected turns during the wedding process and how  did you handle it?
Yes we did. Craig and I tried not to let things get to us and decided that we would make the best of every situation that came up and didn’t dwell on unforeseen circumstances. We made a plan B and went along with it. In the end that turned out to be the best way to have handled our entire wedding and events leading up to it because we can honestly say that we enjoyed every bit of it.

Any advice for brides-to-be?
Start planning well in advance so that you know what lies ahead. It really helps to use all the information you have at hand such as wedding websites, magazines, blogs because these help you to form ideas of what you want for your wedding. Also as hard as it can be always try to compromise but make sure that at the end of the day you and your hubby still have the wedding you ultimately want.

Looking back, is there  anything you would have done differently?
No I think everything worked out the way it should have and we had an amazing day at the end of it all.
